In an escalation of its police-state measures, Ford is targeting the historic Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Michigan, for its latest “enhanced” security operation. Under the pretext of seizing drugs and firearms, the company is conducting random bag searches, bringing in police and dogs, and deploying undercover spies at all its US factories.

Far from opposing the raids, United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain and the rest of the union bureaucracy are colluding with Ford’s Global Security Task Force and the police.

But rank-and-file workers refuse to go back to the days of Henry Ford in the 1930s and 1940s, when the Nazi admirer ran Rouge like his personal fiefdom, deploying thousands of industrial spies and thugs to beat up and fire any worker suspected of union or socialist activity.

It is now clear that Trump’s attacks on immigrant workers and ICE workplace raids are only a dry run for dictatorial measures aimed at the entire working class. As Musk’s mass firing of federal workers demonstrates, the oligarchs look at workers as industrial slaves who should beg for their jobs.
