David North, chairman of the International Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site and national chairman of the Socialist Equality Party (US), will be speaking alongside Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei (SGP, Socialist Equality Party-Germany) Deputy National Secretary Christoph Vandreier at four events as part of the upcoming meeting series, “The Threat of Fascism and How to Fight It.”
North and Vandreier will jointly address meetings in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan; Cambridge, Massachusetts and New York City. SEP (US) National Secretary Joe Kishore will speak with Vandreier at the meetings in California at San Diego and Berkeley. The meetings are part of an international book tour featuring Vandreier, author of Why Are They Back? Historical Falsification, Political Conspiracy and the Return of Fascism in Germany, (Mehring Books, 2019) available for purchase.
Vandreier and North recently spoke before large audiences in London, England and Leipzig, Germany, where Vandreier’s book was greeted with great enthusiasm. In every country there is broad concern among workers and youth over the growth of the extreme right.
There is not a mass base for fascist politics, but as the class struggle grows worldwide, elements within the state, academia and the media are instigating political conspiracies and conducting historical falsification to create a political environment that legitimizes the resurgence of the far right.
The meetings will address the role of the SGP in exposing this state-backed operation. The meeting series will also take up the historical lessons that must be learned in order to build a mass working class movement capable of preventing the disaster of Nazism from taking place on an even greater scale today.
