More than 3,300 Nexteer Automotive workers in Saginaw, Michigan went on strike December 8 after a sweeping 97.5 percent rejection of a United Auto Workers-backed contract.
The offer included poverty-level wages, grinding work schedules and increases in out-of-pocket health care costs.
The WSWS spoke to workers before the UAW called off the 20-hour strike and ordered them back to work without a chance to vote on a reported new deal.
