A letter from reader in VietnamOn the death of Pol PotPosted 25 April 1998To the editor: In the last few weeks, the judgment in the Papon case in France and the peaceful death of a monster like Pol Pot have shown that truth and justice are as utopian today as in the Middle Ages. We are told that today a person can be watched from a satellite, and no one can hide anywhere. At the same time we are asked to believe that someone like Pol Pot could not be found and arrested until the day before his death. Pol Pot's death is convenient for many politicians, including Prince Sihanouk, who do not want their ties to him to be probed. I bet we will have to wait for the death of the same Sihanouk to discover another tiny bit of the truth. JM See also: Copyright 1998-2008 World Socialist Web Site All rights reserved |
